I was excited to expand my knowledge of Premiere Pro and wanted to try something different from the project I showed in the 200-level, instead of using filters that add effects like negatives, dakren, etc. I wanted to explore a bit more technical techniques in Premiere Pro, like omitting specific colours in the video, and narrative storytelling. Initially, I wanted to use the green screen during filming, but time wasn't on our side, so we had to commit to what we decided as a group. As a result, the clips we captured in the studio are pretty limiting, as they contained either two elements —tearing paper apart or random objects on screen. I used two new effects to remove specific colours, especially black backgrounds and some reds in certain scenes. One of which is Lumetri Colour, which lets you filter out the colours from the clip so that the paper tearing can be alone or the crane drum can flow around the screen. To amplify the effect of Lumetri colour, I used a luma key to adjust the cutoffs and thresholds, making Lumetri colour more accurate. The process of using Lumetri colour and Luma key eventually leads to the idea of the narrative, which is to describe a state of mind that I sometimes encountered. The state of mind I was describing in the video —I have a feeling there are many people staring at me, even if they weren't staring at me in the first place. The stares are very uncomfortable and really judgmental, where I would rather be alone. This feeling can be amplified if I am on the bus or in an unfamiliar place. Later, the choice of presentation eventually led to a CRT, as I hope the effect can be amplified and stand out from the rest of the works represented during critiques.
